Agripaumes
The Leonurus genus belongs to the Lamiaceae family and comprises some twenty species. Also known as motherwort or leonure, they are mainly native to Europe and Asia. The name Leonurus comes from the Greek words "léôn" for lion and "ourá" for tail, and thus means lion's tail, in reference to the appearance of these plants. This name can be confusing, however, and should not be confused with the lion's tail Leonotis leonurus. Leonurus species are traditionally used medicinally as infusions, decoctions or mother tinctures.
