The queen daisy or Chinese aster, Callistephus chinensis, is an annual herbaceous plant in the Asteraceae family. It is the only species belonging to the Callistephus genus. There are hundreds of varieties, with a very wide range of sizes, shapes and colors. They can be dwarf, semi-dwarf or large, with single, semi-double or double flowers, and in a wide variety of colors. Daisy queens are equally at home in beds and rock gardens as in pots, blooming from late summer to the first frosts.
They are easy to grow in rich, well-drained soil in a sunny position.
