Helianthus
Helianthus are medicinal plants in the Asteraceae family and Heliantheae tribe. The Helianthus genus comprises 67 known species, all of which are melliferous. Helianthus have large yellow flower heads often compared to suns, hence their scientific name which comes from the Greek "helios" - "sun" and "anthos" - "flower". They are native to North and South America, and some species are naturalized in France. The two best known are the sunflower - Helianthus annuus - and the Jerusalem artichoke - Helianthus tuberons.
