Marigold
Marigolds are plants in the Asteraceae family and the Calenduleae tribe. The Calendula genus comprises 20 known species. They are all medicinal, melliferous and tinctorial. Calendula has a creamy yellow color, obtained by decoction of its flowers, and provides a source of non-toxic food coloring, notably used to darken butters. Known for its calming and healing properties when used externally, Calendula officinalis is also used internally to relieve stomach and liver disorders, inflammation of the throat and mouth, and premenstrual pain.
