Mimulus
Mimulus are flowering medicinal plants in the Phrymaceae family. The Mimulus genus comprises some 150 herbaceous species, perennial or sometimes annual when the climate is not mild enough. Some Amerindian peoples ate the stems and leaves, cooked or raw, of Mimulus guttatus. The Shoshoni, Yavapai and Kawaiisu peoples also used it as a medicinal plant for intestinal problems, wounds and back and chest pain. It is also a species used in the Bach Flower Remedies system by the Flower Essence Society of California for the treatment of certain fears.
