Tobacco plants - of the genus Nicotiana - are perennial medicinal plants - grown as annuals in our latitudes - in the Solanaceae family. Traditionally a sacred medicinal plant known and recognized throughout the world, tobacco has been totally perverted by Western civilizations. The industry, in its quest for power and profit, has transformed it into a deadly, cancer-causing plant. But is it really this plant, incessantly demonized - yet consumed to excess and extremely lucrative for gangsters and the state - that generates these cancers and diseases? Wouldn't it be the 5,300 or so chemicals in cigarette smoke that are killing us? We invite all consumers to produce their own tobacco, free of toxic industrial substances. The taste, quality and reduced risks associated with consumption will all be there! There are two main species of tobacco, Nicotiana tabacum and Nicotiana rustica. The former has pink or white flowers, while the latter has yellow flowers. So you can tell them apart. If you want to smoke your own tobacco, it's best to turn to the Nicotiana tabac um varieties, which have much lower nicotine levels. Indications of these levels, when available, are given. For guidance, we refer to the percentage of nicotine obtained per dry leaf. A percentage ranging from 0 to 1% gives a light strength, from 1 to 2% a medium strength and above 2% a high strength. Mixing mild and strong varieties within this species is a good initiative for a balanced smoking blend.
