Arugula
Arugula is a member of the Brassicaceae family and the Brassiceae tribe. Cultivated arugula - Eruca sativa - belongs to the genus Eruca, which comprises 5 known species. Wild arugula - Diplotaxis ericoides - belongs to the genus Diplotaxis, which comprises 27 known species. Arugula has a pungent taste that is much appreciated in mescluns, omelettes, soups, pestos or to spice up sauces. The leaves are best eaten before flowering. They are an excellent source of vitamin K and a good source of vitamin B9.
