Aquadulce - Broad bean
This old variety, around 70 cm tall, produces numerous semi-erect pods up to 25 cm long. Each pod contains 7 to 9 light-green seeds, which turn brown when ripe.

Sow directly in place, one seed every 15 cm, in rows 40 cm apart. Stake seedlings when they reach 15 cm in height and when they are in flower. Staggering sowing allows you to spread harvests over a longer period.
In mild climates, it is possible to sow from October to February.

This ancient variety originated in Spain. It was first mentioned in 1937 and has appeared since 1883 in Vilmorin-Andrieux's "Les Plantes Potagères".
Beans belong to the legume family, plants whose fruits form a pod. Like all species in this family, it differs from fresh vegetables in that it is particularly high in fiber, protein and complex carbohydrates. It is also a good source of vitamin C, which is rare in legumes, as well as vitamins B1, B3 and B9, and provides significant quantities of iron, potassium, calcium and magnesium.
