Ashwagandha - Withania
This species is one of the most renowned plants in Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia. It can be grown as a perennial in mild climates. It reaches up to 1 m in height and produces greenish flowers and round, orange fruits.
Its roots are used as a sedative, tranquilizer and aphrodisiac. It's an adaptogenic plant with numerous anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and other medicinal properties.

Sow in pots at a temperature between 16 and 20°C, under a well-lit shelter, 5 weeks before planting. Transplant with the whole root ball, after the last frosts, 50 cm apart in all directions, burying the stem up to the first leaves. Water abundantly at the time of planting.
