Baikal Skullcap
This cold-hardy perennial forms a small bush with numerous inflorescences of blue-purple, helmet-shaped flowers. Traditionally used in Chinese medicine, its dried roots have tranquilizing properties.

Sow in a nursery 3 weeks before planting in the garden. Cover the seeds very lightly, plumb gently, and keep the soil moist, ideally at a temperature of around 18°, until germination. Depending on the season, transplant seedlings into pots or directly into the garden.
Scuttelarias like cool, well-drained, slightly moist soil. A semi-shaded position is ideal, even if they can tolerate full sun. A spacing of 60 cm will provide the space needed for harmonious plant growth.
