Biochar
Biochar or "Agrichar" is a vegetable charcoal obtained by pyrolysis (burning in a low-oxygen atmosphere) of biomass from organic matter of various origins. Discovered 6,000 years ago by Amerindians in the Amazon rainforest, they found that the use of charcoal could transform their impoverished soils into fertile soils known as "terra prêta", which means "black earth". Biochar acts like a sponge: able to absorb up to 5 times its weight in water, it improves soil retention, and its honeycomb structure enables micro-organisms to thrive. It is beneficial for all types of soil. It will lighten heavy or clayey soils and retain nutrients in sandy soil.
Packaging :

Beneficial effects
- Rich in stable carbon, it structures the soil and regenerates humus.
- Contributes to the diffusion and availability of nutrients in the soil.
- Its porosity catalyzes and amplifies the action of traditional organic or mineral fertilizers.
- Enhances soil biological life.
- Makes plants more resistant to disease and parasites.
- Rich in minerals and trace elements.
- Improves soil water retention.
- Durability over time thanks to its high carbon content.
Directions for use
- For the garden, apply 300 g of Biochar per m2. Biochar should not be applied too deeply, as it contains aerobic microorganisms. It's best to mix the Biochar on the surface of the soil and scratch it in. Earthworms and soil life will then mix the elements together.
- During pyrolysis, the nitrogen contained in the biomass is trapped or volatilized. It's important to enrich your soil with organic nitrogen, such as chicken droppings, using compost or a nitrogen-rich soil improver like Fermented Nettle Extract.
- Store in a dry place, away from sources of heat and light.

ÉlémenTerre
Élémenterre is an artisanal Breton company specializing since 2017 in the manufacture of organic and mineral soil improvers, fermented extracts of wild plants and beneficial indigenous micro-organisms. Pascal Le Palud, an earthworm farmer since 2009, and Emmanuel Boutet, a landscape gardener, are the co-founders of Élémenterre. Trained by Eric Petiot in 2015, they are committed to continuous improvement, listening to their customers and continuing their training. Since the beginning of 2020, they have been working on developing a network of small artisan producers and collaborative research with scientists around water, energy agriculture, algae and seawater. ÉlémenTerre draws its inspiration from ancestral agricultural techniques to promote soil microbiology and make it self-sufficient, save water, restore energy to the soil, reinforce the soil's natural defences and improve the quality of life.nergy to the soil, strengthen plants' immune defenses, structure and regenerate humus, and improve the taste and nutritional quality of fruit and vegetables.
