This biennial species of white mullein has a wide rosette of downy, gray-green leaves from which emerge, in the second year, a long flowering spike adorned, from June to September, with a multitude of beautiful yellow flowers.

The flowers and leaves of Verbascum densiflorum, Verbascum phlomoides and Verbascum thapsus have expectorant, mucolytic and sedative properties, and are used in traditional Turkish medicine to treat respiratory disorders such as bronchitis, dry coughs, tuberculosis and asthma. They are also used for hemorrhoids, rheumatic inflammations, superficial fungal infections, etc. In infusions, these species relieve abdominal pain.
