Doucette d'Alger - Fedia
This species, closely related to lamb's lettuce, has delicious, fleshy green leaves. They keep for up to 60 days after harvest and add a nutty flavor to salads.
Algerian sweet potatoes have small, pink flowers, which are highly decorative and melliferous, and reseed well if left to their own devices!
Native to the Mediterranean basin, it grows spontaneously in olive groves and is also known as Algerian valerian, horn of plenty, Algerian salad and fedia.

Sow lightly, directly in the ground, in rows 30 cm apart. Lightly cover seeds and press down. Thin to 10 cm after emergence. Keep soil cool. If Doucette is grown in full sun, lightly shade the rows.
When harvesting, cut the leaves off at the collar to allow second growth.
