Gérard Ducerf, a field botanist since 1979 and a former farmer, currently divides his time between carrying out soil diagnostics, various botanical surveys throughout France and training for a wide audience. Among other works, he is the author of "Les plantes bio-indicatrices : guide de diagnostics des sols", published in 2003, the first book to present this innovative vision.

Man and plants: a long history of adaptation from one to the other, first man to plant, as a necessity for survival, then plant to man, when man began to select from nature and cultivate the species he preferred, improving them and adapting them to his way of living and producing.

Produce: the word that changes man's relationship with his environment. He tries to shape nature and plants for maximum profit, forgetting that he doesn't know all the rules of the game.

Plants, through their genes, adapt to soils, climatic conditions and agricultural practices; thus, the presence of the plant speaks to the health of the soil.

This book gives a global and dynamic vision of soil evolution through the discovery of plants that grow spontaneously. It provides clear, easy-to-implement solutions to help individuals and professionals alike improve their soils.

For each species, you'll find a description illustrated by numerous photos of botanical details, a presentation of the natural and human-induced living environments, as well as the indicator characters derived from them, medicinal uses and possible food uses.

Finally, there's a recipe booklet to help you take your first steps in "herb cooking"!

Volume 3 of the encyclopedia of bio-indicator, food and medicinal plants features concrete case studies to better understand the relationship between plants, soil and human interactions, as well as detailed descriptions of 270 new species.

The encyclopedia of bio-indicator, food and medicinal plants. Guide to soil diagnosis. Tome 3 - 2nd edition.
