Glacial Ficoid
This spreading plant, also known as coarse purslane, produces soft green, fleshy leaves along its stems, with a frosted appearance and a slightly iodized, tangy taste. Eat fresh or cooked like spinach!
Ficoïde glaciale can also be used as an ornamental plant in beds, borders or rock gardens.
Sow in cups in a mixture of potting soil and sand, under a well-lit shelter, and cover the seeds very lightly. Keep the substrate moist until the seeds emerge. Transplant to the garden, as soon as the risk of frost has passed, in well-drained soil, every 30 cm in rows 50 cm apart.
