Glycyrrhiza yunnanensis - Licorice
This species of licorice, native to Yunnan in China, produces lilac flowers on plants over 1 metre tall, followed by ornamental red pods.
It is highly prized in traditional Chinese pharmacopoeia.

Before sowing, place seeds in a cold place for several weeks, e.g. in a refrigerator tray. Sow in cups under a light shelter, after scarifying and soaking seeds in warm water for 24 hours. Keep seeds lightly covered and moist until emergence. Transplant into warmed soil, in spring or autumn.
