Great Dixter" pointed spade 56 cm

Ref : BPGD56

This pointed spade was designed by Christopher Lloyd, creator of the "Great Dixter" gardens in south-east England. This tool is ideal for digging large holes while working on your knees. The handle, 42 cm long, allows two-handed working and therefore greater precision than a transplanting spade.

Specifications:

  • Pointed tongue length: 13.5 cm
  • Maximum width of pointed tongue: 12.2 cm
  • Net weight: 610 g
  • Material: stainless steel
  • Handle length: 42 cm
  • Handle material: Ash
  • Made in : Netherlands
  • Manufacturer: Sneeboer & Zn Sneeboer & Zn

Care instructions:

  • Before first use and between garden seasons: Treat all your tools with linseed oil. This way, the handles will keep their appearance, won't dry out, and dirt won't stick to the wood. Stainless steel parts can also be treated with linseed oil. This will prevent soil sticking to the heads of shovels, rakes or other hand tools.
  • Cleaning: Remove dirt and rust with a wire brush.
  • Sharpening: To get the most out of your tool with a sharp blade, use the right sharpener. Sharpen only the sharp edges, respecting the sharpening angle of the blade. We strongly advise against using an electric sharpener. High temperatures may alter the quality of the metal.
  • Lubrication: Oil the blades and wooden handles with a thin layer of linseed oil applied to a cloth. After use, store the cloth in a safe place to avoid any risk of ignition.
  • Storage: Storage is the greatest challenge for gardeners. The better you take care of your tools, the longer you can keep them! It's important to keep them clean, dry and out of the sun. Beware of temperature variations and changes in humidity. Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Made from the finest materials, a Sneeboer tool is unique. 14 steps, all handcrafted, are involved in its manufacture. First, the tool is heated with charcoal to a very high temperature. The carbon in the charcoal combines with the stainless steel to give it its hardness. Air-cooled, the tool is refined with a hammer, strengthened where the effort is concentrated and sharpened on the sides.
