Balloon Vine - Heart pea
This climbing variety can reach 2 to 3 m in height. It has small white flowers and beautiful pea-sized black seeds with a white heart-shaped spot. These give the plant its name "Cardiospermum" ("heart seeds"). Inedible, they are highly decorative.

Sow under cover at a minimum temperature of 20°C. Emergence takes place between 15 and 20 days. When plants reach 8 to 10 cm, transplant at 70 cm intervals.
Peas do not tolerate drought, so keep the soil sufficiently moist by mulching. Avoid over-fertilization.
