Carmona - Head Lettuce
This hardy, vigorous variety produces large, beautiful apples with wavy, green leaves edged in red. They offer a crisp texture and mild flavor.
In danger of extinction, this variety has been revived by Frank Morton of Wild Garden Seeds in Oregon, USA.

Sow in pots or slabs at a temperature of 10-18°C, one month before planting. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil, press lightly and water. Once the plants have 4 leaves, prick out. You can also sow lightly, directly in the field, every 15 days for better staggered harvests, then thin out. This type of sowing produces hardier plants, less susceptible to bolting.
