This very old, vigorous French variety can be grown in any season. Even in hot weather, it produces firm, bright-red leaves that quickly form a rounded head.

Sow in pots or slabs at a temperature of 10-18°C, one month before planting. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil, press lightly and water. Once the plants have 4 leaves, prick out. You can also sow lightly, directly in the field, every 15 days for better staggered harvests, then thin out. This type of sowing produces hardier plants, less susceptible to bolting.
Can be grown in all seasons, but is particularly suited to spring and summer.
