Sow in trays or pots, under a light shelter, at a temperature of around 18°C. Transplant into individual cups when plants have 3 leaves. Plant out after the last frosts. It is also possible to sow directly in the ground, after the last frosts, at a temperature of around 16°C.
Dahlias like loose, deep, rich soil that keeps them cool in summer but sunny. They can be grown in pots, tubs or window boxes in a soil mix composed of at least half soft topsoil.
