The gourd - Lagenaria siceraria - is a member of the Cucurbitaceae family and the Benincaseae tribe. The genus Lagenaria comprises 6 known species. If you want to use them for decoration, wait until autumn - 4 to 5 months after sowing. The flesh inside will dry out and only the seeds remain. Then dry them in a dry, ventilated place. They can be used to make musical instruments, containers and beautiful decorative objects that you can paint.
