Mountain Sweet Yellow - Watermelon
This very old variety produces long fruits weighing from 7 to 10 kg. Their dark yellow flesh has a juicy texture and a sweet flavor. Seeds are black.

Sow in pots at temperatures between 20 and 30°C, 6 weeks before planting. Transplant with the root ball, after the last frosts, in planting holes enriched with compost, spaced 1.5 m apart in all directions. Sowing in the open ground is possible, under the same conditions, when the soil is well warmed and outside temperatures no longer fall below 15°C.

This very old variety from the United States is a yellow-fleshed variation of the "Mountain Sweet" variety that was very popular in the 1840s in the markets of New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia. It is mentioned in Vilmorin-Andrieux's 1883 book "Les Plantes Potagères".
