This variety, halfway between onion and shallot, is also known as echalion. The bulbs are pink and elongated, from 10 to 18 cm long, and have an excellent shelf life. The flesh is pink, juicy and fragrant, and can be eaten raw or cooked.

Semer en clayettes, couvrir peu les graines, plomber et arroser. Repiquer en pleine terre, après les dernières gelées, lorsque les plants atteignent une dizaine de centimètres, un plant tous les 15 cm, en rangs espacés de 20 cm. Pour un semis directement en place, semer clair en lignes espacées de 20 cm. Une fois qu’ils atteignent 10 cm, ne garder qu’un plant tous les 15 cm.
