This old variety, with its bushy habit and purple flowers, produces an abundance of long, straight, green pods containing small black seeds. They should be picked when young.

Sow directly in place, 2 to 3 cm deep, at 8 cm intervals, in rows 40 cm apart, or in stacks of 3 to 5 seeds, 40 cm apart in all directions. Plant 3 weeks after emergence. In mild climates, sow as early as April.
They can be harvested once or twice a week, when they reach 12 to 15 cm in length, before becoming fibrous.
