Welcome parsley, an aromatic herb essential to your garden and kitchen. Easy to grow in pots or in the ground, this biennial plant forms a thick, fleshy root in its first year, topped with aromatic, dark-green foliage. Its fresh leaves, with their powerful fragrance and flavor, offer numerous health benefits, in particular for maintaining the body's mineral and vitamin balance.

Find out when and how to plant, cut and transplant this versatile aromatic herb, the most widely used in cooking!

How to grow parsley successfully?

Parsley likes light, cool, humus-rich soil and sunny exposure. It can be grown in pots or in the ground.

After the last frosts, you can transplant single parsley plants into the ground every 8 to 10 cm, in rows 30 cm apart, or in larger pots.

Water for the first few weeks after planting, and again after flowering in the summer of the second year.

Cut foliage regularly to encourage establishment and better regrowth. Mulch if necessary during winter, in case of heavy frosts, and uncover as soon as the risk has passed).

How to store parsley?

Parsley can be stored for several days in a clean, damp cloth in the refrigerator. To keep it longer, freeze the leaves, whole or chopped, as they tend to lose their aroma and flavor when dried.

Parsley: a healthy ally in the kitchen

Particularly rich in vitamins, especially C and A, a handful of parsley (20 g) contains two-thirds of the vitamin C needed by an adult per day, and 3 or 4 times the required amount of provitamin A. It's also a good source of calcium, iron and manganese.
